WORKING IN IT
Agile team, cutting-edge technologies, millions of satisfied users
We are transforming ourselves and introducing new technologies as they emerge to serve our customers better and more efficiently and provide them with the highest quality of services and products. We maintain and grow the IT ecosystem for all business lines in the bank, while keeping security in mind, especially in the expanding space for digital solutions. We also coordinate a portfolio of banking projects to ensure work is completed on time and in line with modern market standards.
What makes us stand out?
I CAN be myself here
BNP Paribas Polska is inclusive and thrives on diversity.
We are changing to create a place that best meets the needs of employees and clients alike. We emphasise the role of women in the society through campaigns such as „Gdzie są nasze Patronki?” (“Where Are Our Female Patrons”), only taking part in conferences and events if some of the speakers are women (as part of the “Jamais Sans Elles” - “Never Without Her” initiative) and championing equal pay under the Gender Pay Gap scheme. We are helping fathers take advantage of education and paternity leave opportunities as part of the “Tato, masz to jak w banku” (“You Can Bank On It, Dad”) campaign. We have set up a corporate social responsibility function to verify compliance of our initiatives with requirements for disability accessibility. Our employee-centred initiatives include the BNP Paribas Pride Poland community and as a brand, we seek to support projects which promote equality and inclusion.
We believe in human potential. We create a space where human potential can thrive. Because you are the one who knows best what is important to you.
“I feel like I can be myself; I can express myself. I think diversity has a lot of names and a lot of meanings and we're learning at the bank how to take advantage of that. I can also see how it positively impacts our relationships with clients.”
Here I CAN have an impact on our planet
We are the Bank of Green Changes. Environmental responsibility is one of our key commitments. As part of our environmental efforts, we reduce funding for carbon-intensive industries, support the energy transition by offering “green” products and services, reduce the environmental impact of our operations, and promote environmentally responsible attitudes among our employees, clients and business partners.
An educational campaign aimed at employees and their families is an important element of the Bank of Green Changes programme. In each edition, bank employees receive a dose of environmental knowledge: tips and ready-made solutions to help them live in harmony with the planet, learn about the causes and effects of climate change and ways to counteract them. We also encourage our employees to undertake eco-challenges and to share their ideas and achievements with others. Inspiring meetings, workshops and webinars are organised as part of the programme.
To more effectively implement the sustainability mission and commitments under our new integrated strategy GObeyond for 2022-2025, we have established a Sustainability Council which together with the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), Sustainability Officers and Sustainability Area units forms the Sustainability Community. You can have a real impact on the sustainability transformation by becoming a Sustainability Officer.
“Personally, I am very supportive of all kinds of environmental causes and enjoy volunteering. What I do professionally is just an extension of my daily activities and my personality. I can pursue themes and tasks at work that are close to me in my everyday life.”
Here I CAN make my own choices
Providing room for autonomy is sometimes the best form of support. That's why at the bank we encourage you to make your own decisions, experiment and evolve your own unique path of experience. At the same time, we appreciate the importance of being able to rely on your manager – and this is something you can count on, as our employees will gladly testify.
In our everyday work, we follow top-class banking standards, but where flexibility is allowed, our leaders encourage teams to take their own decisions and grasp the opportunity to make independent choices. We explore that freedom of choice by promoting numerous grassroots initiatives and actively engaging in volunteering, with the bank granting an additional 16 hours off a year to employees who wish to support an initiative of their choice. The bank’s employee-centred solutions are also highly flexible – you can choose from a diverse cafeteria system of benefits, depending on your individual needs.
“Without autonomy, it would be difficult to maintain the proper dynamics of certain initiatives. It's worthwhile to think outside the box and independence is at the core of that approach.”
Here I CAN take advantage of the opportunities created by change
We are changing for you and for the world. All of our decisions are forward-looking. After all, we are the bank for a changing world! As an investor, we support promising innovations in the BNP Paribas Innovation Lab. We know that it is absolutely necessary to continuously grow and proactively respond to the challenges of modern times, which is why we are gradually introducing agility into our processes.
We offer an increasing number of development opportunities related to the Agile mind-set, creating new structures and roles to support the flexibility and innovativeness of the organisation. We carefully listen to what our employees have to say – we conduct regular pulse checks and we strategically process outcomes to streamline processes related to our employees’ daily work experience. From time to time, we also organise meetings of the Management Board with employees to discuss the implementation of the business strategy.
“I was lucky to able to move into the Agile Transformation area. I feel that changing my position and area has contributed to my development. I am happy to be currently involved in optimising the processes that are happening in our bank.”

Team challenges
“Since everything is digital, stored or processed online, from videos of our pets and travel logs to our credit card information, security never ends. Threats come in many forms, such as ransomware, phishing, malware and robbery. To meet these challenges, we place great emphasis on the security of our customers, their data and funds, as well as the security of our employees and IT systems. Both individually and collectively, we commit significant resources, time and energy to preventing attacks and, when and if they do occur, to minimising their effects and consequences.”
Competencies
We are looking for candidates who have analytical skills, are passionate about technology and cybersecurity, are driven to bring new ideas to life, have good workflow and the ability to work in a diverse environment.
We are also ready to support you in developing your competencies. Depending on the specifics of each security team, a set of advanced technical skills may be required – see the job descriptions!
How do we work?
What are our recent projects?
This year we have implemented several innovative solutions to enhance our protection capabilities and automate our threat response. We have enhanced the security of the software development process, strengthened new login mechanisms with multi-factor authentication, and created new security testing processes. We have also increased visibility in system operations by improving monitoring with artificial intelligence-based solutions, automated threat response, business continuity management, and risk analysis processes.
At the same time, we support agile transformation and digital development at BNP Paribas Bank.
Our everyday work
Every day we face thousands of online attacks. Cybercriminals look for vulnerabilities in organisations or private computers. They all have one goal: to profit from the misfortune of others. This is our reality. We remain vigilant to these threats 24/7/365. The bank's systems are, therefore, regularly tested for security, and the measures taken by the bank are increasingly improving our already high security standards. That is why the bank employs numerous teams of specialists to ensure that our customers can safely use our internet banking services.
Are we a dynamic, modern, capable and skilled team? Oh, yes, we are :) And you? Let’s find out if we are a good fit :)
02Development
Development is a core area of our growth. We focus on building independent solutions using cutting-edge technologies, including those based on open source.

Team challenges
"Our goal is to create a market differentiating, new lending process for Corporate & SME customers. How to make something complicated simple and attractive using modern technology? Definitely not a simple or boring task! You can find out yourself by joining us and helping us tackle this challenge!"
Competencies
We build, develop and maintain applications for key banking processes dedicated to all business lines. With respect to retail clients, our priority is client onboarding and support in relation to credit, card and payment processes, especially those related to online and mobile banking.
In the SME and Corporate area, we focus on continuous improvement of the credit and loan process and Trade Finance processes and products. We also support investment processes by integrating the bank's applications with products from the Brokerage Office and tools of major transfer agents.
How do we work?
What are our recent projects?
This year we built a new credit decision application for the Corporate Clients business line and a syndicated loan management application. We have a new credit process platform in the pipeline for the SME and Corporate business lines. We are also beginning to select a solution for a new application to support Trade Finance's niche credit products. In the area of investments, we are implementing further integration with the bank's key applications to support investment fund transactions. We are in the process of implementing a new tool to support investment advice for Wealth Management Clients. In the area of branches, we have implemented several new processes related to client acquisition with the use of client mobile devices, claims handling and investment product support.
Our everyday work
We are a dynamic and state-of-art work environment for developers and not only. We operate using agile methodology. We are constantly evolving our CI/CD process, and you will have an impact on it, too.
Java, Angular, .Net, Spring Boot and dockerisation of environments will be your daily routine. You can influence what new banking products will look like.
We provide ongoing development and training opportunities that you can choose as you see fit.
03Architecture
Architecture and its continued transformation is now one of the bank's key priorities.
Therefore, in the coming years we will focus on building an architecture based on the best market practices and paradigms of Domain Driven architecture supported by a microservices approach and cloud services.
Following a series of mergers, we have a wide scope for action and we are looking for people with hands-on experience in building solutions based on large-scale microservices and using the API-First approach. Knowledge backed by certification in one of the major public clouds, as well as hands-on experience in building cloud native applications is another must.

What are the team's current challenges?
“The challenges are many, as they tend to be in new organisational or business areas. These include:
- developing new models of cooperation with external partners based on data exchange at the API level and automation of processes and flows,
- adjusting the bank's product manufacturing model (in the sense of banking products) in order to respond efficiently and adequately to the needs of partners and their customers,
- changing the bank's approach to products, data, integration patterns and portfolio-wide management in a way that allows external products to be easily composed from existing components.”
A few words about everyday life ;)
“Lots of meetings, discussions with both the wider business and many areas of IT, but also with external partners – from start-ups to the biggest players in the market – as well as technology vendors. A bit of documentation to make sure it all doesn't get missed and preparing decision-making materials for stakeholders. On the positive side – there is also time for personal work, where you can explore topics not necessarily directly related to current tasks; without this mental break every now and then it would probably be more difficult ;-)”
What makes us stand out?
“First of all, we are not a boring bank :P Due to historical conditions and ambitious goals set by management, we often have to untangle Gordian knots that even the ancient scholars could not have imagined :D But on a serious note, we operate in an environment characterised by a very high internal complexity and equally high – if not higher – dynamics of change. If you like such challenges, you will certainly not be disappointed. Last but not least – people. Personally, I think that we have a lot of valuable people in the organisation, and working with these people enables you to develop and deal with the biggest challenges. ”
Competencies
Architecture is divided into several sub-areas:
How do we work?
Our everyday work
We have many large transformation projects up our sleeve, such as the merger of BNP Paribas and BGŻ or Reiffeisen Bank Poland. At the same time, we have transformed our electronic channels into microservice architecture in the form of GoOnline or GoMobile.
However, many more interesting challenges are in store that come from working in a large organisation. These include transformation of core banking and the entire integration layer towards service-mesh, further expansion of data hub and modern analytical tools, adoption of public cloud and further transformation of our architecture towards microservices.
04Business Analysis
Business and system analysis is a key area in the context of achieving the intended business value in the process of developing systems to support products for our clients.

Team challenges
“Every day at my job is different, full of unexpected challenges – so there's no question of boredom! As an IT analyst, I actually take on several roles, alternating between Scrum Master, Product Owner, tester, and even UX/UI designer. Moreover, I love what I do. I can feel a lot of trust on the part of my scrum team and my line manager. There is also openness to look for new solutions, which also means I have the right to make mistakes. That's very important because those are the things that build an environment where you really want to work and where everyone feels valued.”
Competencies
A good understanding of business needs and the ability to translate them into technical solutions makes the creation, testing and deployment of functionalities a shorter process but above all ensures that our users and customers obtain solutions tailored to their needs that are useful and based on the latest secure technologies.
How do we work?
What we can offer you
We will provide you with access to knowledge and development opportunities, not only in the area of analysis but also in areas such as UX/UI, Service Design, QA or Development – because we emphase interdisciplinarity.
You will have the opportunity to participate in the Analyst Community of Practice and share experiences with the best professionals in this field on the market. You will also be able to develop your analytical skills through a wide range of on-site and online training courses.
Our everyday work
You will work on the development of products based on cutting-edge technologies such as microservices, containerisation, cloud solutions, etc. using the latest tools and hardware.

05DevOps

Competencies
Preparing infrastructure and work environments for testers or developers and building and improving CI/CD pipelines.
This includes managing work with code repositories, developing monitoring platforms for applications, scanning for and addressing security vulnerabilities.
How do we work?
Our everyday work
We automate and optimise our processes. We actively participate in CI/CD guilds or Technical Refinement meetings within our organisation.
We work in hybrid mode, mostly remotely, showing up at the office once a week at most. Our daily routine is to develop existing solutions and propose new ones, improving reliability and speed of software delivery.
What are our recent projects?
A dedicated Code Factory team has been set up with the mission to deliver (in concert with DevOps teams) tools and processes centred around our SDLC process.
06Development Organisation and IT Management
Have you ever wondered how a bank's high-level strategy translates into actual changes to products and processes?
How do overall metrics decompose into individual systems functions?
Or – how does the Management shape the implementation of dozens of different initiatives and investments?
That's what our role is. We are the link between the strategic and operational level of the organisation. Tactical operations are our domain.

Team challenges
We are currently working to make the bank's development efforts more agile in practice to deliver value to our customers even faster. Every morning we have a 30-minute stand-up with the whole team over coffee or tea to discuss what happened yesterday, what we are planning for today and what our priorities are. Sometimes we talk about things not entirely related to work ;) What sets us apart is our openness to change and our willingness and ability to implement new technological solutions and modern working methods. We have a real impact on how the organisation operates and grows. We set the rhythm for our organisation.
Competencies
What do we do specifically? From a top-down perspective, we are responsible for operationalising the bank's strategy.
From a bottom-up perspective, we provide the group’s management and stakeholders with information on progress and challenges in implementing development plans.
We monitor deliverables and manage dependencies and changes. We consolidate data to feed information into the strategic decision-making process.
How do we work?
Our everyday work
Let’s use a comparison from the world of sports.
The Japanese government together with the International Olympic Committee decided to host the Olympic Games in Tokyo – so they defined the goal. But accomplishing such an undertaking required decomposing the main goal into many smaller ones, identifying interdependencies, regularly adjusting plans, and managing the complexity of multiple teams working together.
And that's where we come in.
07IT Infrastructure
Ever wondered what's behind the armoured door to the server room? Or perhaps you are interested in how to navigate the Clouds? Are you interested in databases or perhaps the Digital Workplace environment?
We manage the bank’s entire ICT infrastructure, from networks through workstations, servers, databases, virtualisation and automation layers to cloud solutions.
Our primary task is to provide users with stable IT solutions enabling rapid and flexible scalability based on the latest technologies available on the market.

Team challenges
“My work has always been associated with infrastructure, which is the pillar of our bank's IT stability. Working in infrastructure is peculiar, in a positive sense. Few people realise how much work and energy it takes to make it all work. We also keep up to date with the IT world, as we are working on cloud solutions and modern tools for group work (Teams and Office 365). I am currently working as an initiative coordinator for the infrastructure and IT support area. I am pleased to participate in Dynatrace's exciting monitoring project which aims to monitor banking applications as well as infrastructure; the effectiveness of this tool will allow us to detect and nip potential failures in the bud.”
Competencies
Design, preparation and management of the bank's ICT infrastructure. We administer the whole range of solutions from workstations, databases, servers, networks, as well as solutions that virtualise all these elements and allow for seamless operation of all services used by our users and customers. The management of infrastructure as a code (IaC) from extended pipelines automates, secures, and standardises the process of its creation.
How do we work?
Our everyday work
Each day is different but there are many common elements, such as log analysis or correlation of events in systems, participation in projects, planning of upcoming modern solutions.
We work mostly remotely, but we usually show up at the office once a week to meet and schedule our work for the next few days.
What are our recent projects?
We have just completed a massive AD Upgrade project, deployed new disc arrays, fully automated our internal cloud, implemented the latest server standard as well as the latest version of VmWare, deployed SDA, ensured the bank's continued operation and growth during the pandemic, and much more. And now we are working on dozens of new projects to make our environment even better, automated, faster and safer.
